The Sokoto State Government has officially confirmed that a joint airstrike conducted by the Nigerian military and United States forces successfully hit terrorist targets in Tangaza Local Government Area.
The government, in a statement released on Sunday by
the Director-General of Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto, Abubakar Bawa, clarified that the operation did not record any civilian casualties.
โSokoto State welcomes any collaboration between Nigeria, and all relevant global stakeholders aimed at curbing the menace of terrorism and cross-border crimes in the State,โ the statement read.
While the precise impact of the strike is still being assessed, authorities confirmed that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to secure the state and protect the lives and property of its citizens.
The statement also addressed a separate development, noting that objects found near Jabo Town in Tambuwal Local Government Area are still under analysis by Nigeria-US military authorities. It reiterated that no civilian casualties were recorded in that location either.
Highlighting the stateโs commitment to security, the government noted its consistent support for security agencies over the past two years, including the provision of necessary equipment to combat banditry and terrorism.
Residents in affected areas were urged to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing useful information to sustain the momentum for lasting peace.
The statement concluded with a call for prayers for the success of the security forces in their mission to defeat criminal elements in the state and across the country.
