The Senate has unsealed the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central), a key step towards her potential reinstatement following a six-month suspension.
The office, which was sealed after her suspension in March 2025, was opened on Tuesday by the Sergeant-at-Arms and security personnel, granting the senator access to the National Assembly premises.
This move comes ahead of the Senate’s resumption on October 7th. According to sources, the Senate leadership plans to formally address her return during a session where the Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, is expected to move a motion for her to apologize, paving the way for her reinstatement.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended for alleged misconduct after protesting the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Although her suspension officially ended in September, she was previously blocked from resuming her duties. A Federal High Court had earlier deemed the suspension “excessive and unconstitutional” and ordered her recall, but the Senate maintained its position until a potential Court of Appeal ruling.
The Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA) had previously stated that only the Senate itself, not his administrative office, could authorize her return.
