In a strong show of support, the Forum of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Chairmen has passed a vote of confidence in the National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagun, and the entire National Working Committee (NWC).
The endorsement came at the end of a crucial meeting of the Forum held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, which had twenty-nine state chairmen in attendance.
The Forum, in a communiqué issued
and jointly signed by the Chairman of the Forum, Tony Aziegbemi of Edo State, and the Secretary, Edward Mashal of Kaduna State, after exhaustive deliberations, “unequivocally reaffirmed its total support, confidence, and loyalty” to Ambassador Damagun’s leadership. In a move to quell internal dissent, the chairmen also used the opportunity to dissociate themselves from a purported rival “Abdurahman leadership,” stating categorically that the PDP has only one National Chairman in the person of Ambassador Umar Damagun.
The chairmen applauded the judiciary for a “courageous and well-considered judgment” which they said has paved the way for the party’s forthcoming National Elective Convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State. They urged all delegates to begin preparations to participate in the convention to elect “credible, competent, and loyal” members into the NWC.
Further highlighting the party’s current stability, the Forum commended the effective and collaborative leadership synergy between the NWC under Damagun, the PDP Governors’ Forum, and the Board of Trustees (BOT).
Emphasizing the need for order, the Forum called on all State Chapters to invoke the party’s constitution to discipline erring members whose conduct undermines the PDP’s unity and collective interest. They reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the party’s progress and electoral success.
