The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 General Elections, adjusting key dates for screening, primaries, and appeals.
The updated schedule, issued by the party, was signed by the National Organising Secretary, His Excellency Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, OFR, and made public on April 27, 2026, by the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, CON.
The revision builds upon an earlier timetable released on April 20, 2026, when the party first issued a notice of election to its state chapters. That initial schedule had set the presidential primary for May 15โ16 and the governorship primary for May 23. However, the newly released revised version introduces significant changes to the sequencing of primaries and the handling of appeals.
According to the revised schedule, the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will run from Saturday, April 25, to Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the APC National Secretariat.
The last day for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents is Monday, May 4, 2026.
Screening of aspirants will take place in phases. Aspirants for State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and Governorship positions will be screened from Wednesday, May 6, to Friday, May 8, while Presidential aspirants will be screened on Saturday, May 9. Screening results will be published on Monday, May 11. A two-day window for screening appeals has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, to Wednesday, May 13.
Under the revised timetable, the primary elections will now follow a different order from the earlier schedule. The primaries will commence with the House of Representatives on Friday, May 15, followed by the Senate on Monday, May 18, State House of Assembly on Wednesday, May 20, Governorship on Thursday, May 21, and the Presidential primary on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Post-primary election appeals have also been scheduled, beginning May 18 for House of Representatives aspirants and ending May 25 for Presidential hopefuls.
The APC released the cost of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms as follows. Presidential aspirants are to pay N30 million for Expression of Interest and N70 million for Nomination, totalling N100 million. Governorship aspirants will pay N10 million and N40 million respectively, totalling N50 million. Senate aspirants are to pay N3 million and N17 million, totalling N20 million.
House of Representatives aspirants will pay N1 million and N9 million, totalling N10 million. State House of Assembly aspirants are to pay N1 million and N5 million, totalling N6 million. Female aspirants, youth, and physically challenged aspirants are required to pay for the Expression of Interest form and 50 per cent of the prescribed Nomination fees for each position.
The party directed that all payments be made in full directly into designated APC bank accounts.
The revision comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections in line with constitutional provisions, the Electoral Act 2026, and guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will take place on February 6, 2027. The commission has mandated that party primaries and resolution of disputes must be concluded between April 23 and May 30, 2026.
