Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League after a 1–0 victory over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium, secured by a first-half wondergoal from Ebere Eze.
The decisive moment arrived early in the match on Saturday, with the Arsenal match report stating: “A wondergoal from Ebere Eze saw us return to the top of the Premier League after beating Newcastle United at Emirates Stadium.”
The goal came in the 10th minute following a set-piece routine.
A post-match report on the Arsenal website noted, “A clever corner routine paved the way for the England international to arrow the ball into the top corner of the Magpies’ goal to register his 10th Gunners goal.”
Arsenal also underlined the significance of the strike in their set-piece record.
It read, “That was our 17th goal from a corner in the Premier League this season, breaking the all-time competition record.”
Newcastle United arrived at the Emirates in poor league form, but created early chances through William Osula and Bruno Guimarães, both failing to convert. Arsenal responded through structured attacking play, with Martin Ødegaard involved in the build-up to Eze’s earlier chance before the breakthrough goal.
