Nigeria has secured the right to host the 2027 edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), a major event aimed at boosting commerce and investment across the continent.
The announcement was made during the opening ceremony of IATF2025 in Algiers, where Lagos was officially confirmed as the host city.
Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Nigeriaโs Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, received the IATF flag on behalf of the country, marking a significant milestone in Nigeriaโs efforts to position itself as a key player in African trade and economic integration.
Reflecting on the achievement, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Chairman of the IATF Advisory Council and former President of Nigeria, noted: โSince its inception, the IATF has rotated across our continent, leaving its unique legacy and improving with each host nation. Today we continue the proud tradition by announcing the country that will host IATF2027.โ
The fair, organised by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with the African Union Commission and the AfCFTA Secretariat, serves as a vital platform for businesses and governments to connect, negotiate deals, and explore new opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.
By hosting IATF2027, Nigeria is expected to attract thousands of delegates, investors, and exhibitors from across Africa and beyond, providing a substantial boost to local businesses and reinforcing Lagos as a premier destination for international trade and commerce.
