The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, while also predicting the downfall of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State.
Keyamo made these remarks on Sunday in Ughelli, Delta State, during a reception held to welcome Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru back to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ogboru, a prominent political figure, had previously left the APC for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), under which he contested as the 2023 governorship candidate in Delta State. His return to the APC was celebrated as a significant boost for the party.
Keyamo praised Ogboru as “a great leader with massive grassroots support,” highlighting his ability to maintain a strong political base over the years without relying on federal backing. He described Ogboru’s leadership as “organic,” noting his enduring influence in Delta State’s political landscape.
The minister also reflected on the APC’s performance in the 2023 elections, attributing the party’s loss in Delta State to internal divisions. “We lost in 2023 because many stakeholders left the APC in anger,” Keyamo said. “However, we are now looking to the future with greater certainty, thanks to the efforts of the Olorogun Otega Emerhor-led reconciliation committee and the college of leaders, who have worked tirelessly to restore unity within the Delta APC.”
Keyamo urged party stakeholders in Delta State to continue supporting the college of leaders to ensure further progress. “The APC belongs to all of us. It is not a one-man party. There is no sole leadership in the Delta APC; we have collective leadership,” he emphasized. He also revealed that the party had received a presidential mandate to further reconcile and strengthen its base in Delta State.
In his address, Ogboru expressed gratitude to the APC leaders and members for welcoming him back into the party. “Today is a wonderful day,” he said. “Thank you all for welcoming me back home. My special thanks go to Minister Keyamo, who has led the college of leaders exceptionally well.”
Ogboru emphasized the importance of unity within the party, stating, “This house was built by all of us, and we are now making it stronger, bigger, and better. When we are united, divine blessings will follow. The APC will take over Delta State to improve the lives of the people. After all, a better life and good fortunes are the hallmarks of democracy. Thank you, Mr. President. On your mandate, we stand.”
The event was attended by prominent APC figures, including Delta APC Chairman Chief Omeni Sobotie, Olorogun Otega Emerhor, Hon. Francis Waive (representing Ughelli North, South, and Udu Federal Constituency), former APC Women Leader Hon. Stella Okotete, and representatives of Senator Ede Dafinone, former Governor James Ibori, and Elder Godsday Orubeber
