The Kaduna State Government has revoked all previous sales of institutional houses and land allocations within three prominent schools—Alhuda-huda College, Zaria; Queen Amina College, Kaduna; and Government Commercial College, Zaria, citing overriding public interest and the need to preserve a conducive learning environment.
Dr. AbdulKadir Mu’azu Meyere, Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, confirmed the move in a statement on Tuesday, reinforcing the government’s focus on “securing the future of our children.”
The decision, approved last year, follows Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to human capital development and education reform.
Notices of revocation have been issued to affected allottees, with plans underway to refund payments made for the properties.
Governor Sani emphasised that effective education requires an atmosphere free from distractions, stating, “Education is not just a leveller but a ladder for upward mobility, capable of transforming lives.”
Since taking office in 2023, his administration has prioritised expanding access to education, slashing tertiary institution fees, and addressing infrastructural gaps.
To date, the state has constructed 2,336 new classrooms, renovated 707 others, and provided over 34,000 pieces of furniture for pupils and teachers. Additional improvements include 51 boreholes and 918 toilet cubicles across local governments.
