Renowned Nigerian fashion designer Seyi Adekunle, popularly known as Seyi Vodi, has publicly championed the cause of tax compliance, urging citizens and business owners to promptly fulfil their civic responsibility.
Vodi made the call on Friday during a visit to the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) headquarters in Abuja, where he personally filed his annual tax return.
He emphasised that timely tax remittance is crucial for accelerating national development and realising the infrastructural goals of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“It is noble to pay your taxes because this is the money the government uses for infrastructural development and the provision of public services to the people,” Vodi stated.
He specifically commended the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for visible developmental projects and extended his appeal to fellow entrepreneurs, especially in the tailoring business, to comply voluntarily.
The FCT-IRS Acting Executive Chairman, Michael Ango, applauded Vodi’s action, noting that the celebrity designer was the first high-net-worth individual to file his annual return this year.
Ango described Vodi’s voluntary compliance as exemplary and pledged to present him with a formal letter of commendation.
