Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda has officially resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Senator Aduda, who served as the Senator representing the FCT for three consecutive terms in the 7th, 8th, and 9th National Assemblies (2011-2023), announced his resignation in a formal notice addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in his Karu Ward.
The letter, which was made public on Tuesday, cited the ongoing crisis within the party as the primary reason for his departure.
“I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect due to the crisis in the party,” the statement read.
The resignation of the seasoned politician, who also held the position of Minority Whip in the Senate, marks the exit of one of the most influential PDP figures in the FCT.
His departure is widely seen as a major blow to the party’s structure in the nation’s capital, where he has remained a dominant force for over a decade.
In his brief resignation notice, Senator Aduda expressed gratitude for the opportunities he received during his time in the party. “I remain grateful for the opportunity the party gave me to serve in various elective positions in our nation,” the letter concluded.
