The vigilante operatives at Amachi Amagu, Ogugu Community of Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi state has caught policeman’s wife allegedly trying to kidnap some pupils who were returning from school.
At first, reliable sources told Spear News that the unnamed suspect lied. An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity narrated, “She claimed her husband was just a tipper driver.
The youths asked for his phone number and called using a fake story that his wife had an accident. “The man said he was at work and would send his sister.”When the sister arrived, the truth came out.
She reportedly revealed that her brother is actually a serving police officer.”Many in the community were shocked that someone so close to law enforcement could be involved in such a crime.
“The youths handed the woman over, but some residents claimed that police officers later arrived in a Hilux van without being invited by the community.
“They took the suspect away and did not allow full access or follow-up by the youths and local leaders”.But as at the time of filing this report, the Ebonyi State Police Command has not yet, released any official statement.
The locals are now calling for a transparent investigation to unravel whether this was a lone act or syndicate involving some highly placed individuals.
However, this case has stirred fresh fears about the dynamics and approach to kidnapping across the country.
