Academic activities have stopped at the College of Health Sciences, Management and Technology in Rumeme, Port Harcourt as irate students protested over poor living conditions on campus.
The protesters were carrying placards chanting “No water, no light,” to show their frustration.
Staff and visitors were seen stranded as all entry and exit routes to the school were blocked.
One of the students who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “the campus has been without steady water supply and electricity for some time. The environment is dirty and unhealthy which put together make learning difficult”.
Also, the students who said they would not return to classes until their demands are met, insisted on the immediate removal of the Acting Provost, Dr. Peace Chigoerem Amadi for alleged administrative incompetence.
“This situation is unacceptable. We cannot live or study like this,” one of the student leaders added.
However, as at the time of filing this report, the school authority has not released any official statement on the fouled situation.
