Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, PhD, FNSE, the Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has distanced his camp and party from viral social media messages calling for a protest over rising insecurity in the country.
In a press statement issued on Monday, Kwankwaso described the messages as entirely false, warning that those behind the disinformation do not speak for him or the NDC.
“We do not support any action that could lead to the breakdown of public order or the destruction of lives and property,” the former governor of Kano State stated. He emphasized that as responsible leaders, he and the party remain committed to peaceful and constructive approaches in addressing national challenges.
The statement reaffirmed Kwankwaso’s belief in democratic processes, insisting that the ballot box remains “the most legitimate and effective way to express grievances and seek change.”
“The NDC is confident of securing a resounding victory in the upcoming elections through peaceful democratic means,” he added.
The NDC Vice Presidential candidate therefore advised the general public to disregard the false message and ignore those peddling such disinformation.
The statement was signed by Sen. Kwankwaso himself, putting a definitive end to speculation about any planned protest under his or the NDC’s banner.
