The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, CON, has expressed profound shock and deep sorrow over the passing of former Senator Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi.
This was contained in a condolence statement released by Emameh Gabriel, the Special Adviser on Media and Research to the Honourable Minister, on Friday, December 19, 2025.
In the statement, Minister Keyamo described the late Nwaoboshi as a formidable figure in Nigerian politics and a dedicated public servant who passionately represented the Delta North Senatorial District.
The Minister highlighted the impactful tenure of Senator Nwaoboshi, who served in the upper legislative chamber from 2015 to 2023. According to Keyamo, this period was marked by robust legislative contributions and an unwavering commitment to the development of the Niger Delta region and Nigeria at large.
Reflecting on his extensive career, the statement noted that Nwaoboshi’s journey—from his early days as an aide, through his service as Chairman of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Delta State, and Commissioner, before rising to the Senate—stood as a testament to a lifetime of public service.
“In this moment of immense grief, the Honourable Minister extends his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family, his wife, children, and loved ones,” the statement read. “We pray that the Almighty God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.”
The condolences were also extended to the people of Delta North Senatorial District, whom he served diligently, the political class of Delta State, and his numerous friends and associates across the nation, acknowledging that his absence will be deeply felt.
The statement concluded on a reflective note, celebrating a life of great consequence and service. “While we mourn his transition, we celebrate a life of great consequence and service. May his soul find eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord.”
