The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly endorsed the outcomes of its recent National Convention while condemning what it described as a violent assault on its national headquarters by expelled members.
The BoT, led by Senator Adolphus Wabara, issued a press release on Tuesday vehemently condemning an alleged invasion of the partyโs National Secretariat a day earlier.
The statement alleged that expelled members, accompanied by compromised security personnel and armed thugs, unleashed violence in an attempt to forcefully take over the complex.
The incident escalated when the newly elected factional National Working Committee (NWC), led by National Chairman Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, arrived at the secretariat.
The officials were accompanied by the Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, and his Oyo State counterpart, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
The BoT stated that the governors and party leaders were met with tear gas and violence from the mobilized thugs who attempted to block their access.
The Board also expressed dismay at the involvement of the expelled Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, who was seen at the scene with heavy security in apparent solidarity with the invaders.
In the face of the chaos, the BoT saluted the courage of party members who resisted the attack and used the statement to firmly throw its weight behind the new NWC. It gave its full endorsement to the Elective National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15th and 16th, 2025, stating it was convened in strict compliance with the partyโs constitution and national regulations.
The BoT denounced statements from the expelled members as a โdirect assault on the principle of internal democracyโ and called on the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the attacks and ensure the perpetrators are held accountable.
Urging the new NWC to remain focused, the Board reiterated its commitment to rebuilding the party for victory in the 2027 general elections.
