The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 14 suspected members of the notorious Sara-suka gang over alleged violent activities in parts of Bauchi metropolis.
According to a press statement signed and issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the suspects were arrested on January 15, 2026, at about 4:30 p.m. following credible intelligence reports on the movement and activities of suspected thugs in areas including Bakaro, Kofar Dumi, Tudun Yarima and Kofar Madaki.
Acting on the information,
the Divisional Police Officer of ‘A’ Division, Bauchi, CSP Hassan A. Musa, led a patrol team that swiftly moved into the affected areas and apprehended the suspects, all of whom are youths aged between 18 and 22 years and residents of Kofar Dumi, Karofin Madaki, Tudun Yarima and Bakaro within Bauchi metropolis.
Police investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly conspired to carry out attacks on innocent residents while armed with dangerous weapons such as machetes and sharp knives. During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to assaulting members of the public, dispossessing them of valuables including mobile phones and money, and injuring those who resisted.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, psc (+), mni, commended members of the public for their continued cooperation and support, noting that timely information from residents greatly enhances effective policing. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
The suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue, after which they will be charged to court.
