Kingsley Okotie, head of Corporate Communications at Ikeja Electric Plc, has confirmed that an official of the electricity distribution company is receiving treatment at Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos, after suffering an electric shock.
Mr Okotie confirmed this in Lagos on Thursday.
He said the official was electrocuted while carrying out repairs on a power pole in the Gbagada area of the state.
The Ikeja Electric staff member was rescued after suffering an electric shock while reportedly carrying out repairs on a power pole at Gbagada Bus Stop on Tuesday.
The incident triggered panic among onlookers and commuters as rescue operations were carried out on the elevated ladder.
Mr Okotie said the staff member was rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.
“He is receiving medical attention and recuperating now,” he said.
