Urges Nigerians to embrace peace, support national development
The Ọtun of Ẹgbaland, High Chief (Alh) Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi (JP), has extended Christmas and New Year greetings to residents of Agege, Lagos State, and Nigerians nationwide, urging citizens to embrace unity, peace, and a renewed commitment to national development.
In his season’s goodwill message, the respected traditional leader and immediate past Chairman of Agege Local Government expressed gratitude to Almighty God for His sustaining grace throughout the outgoing year and for the opportunity of a new beginning.
He described the festive season as a period for reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed optimism for individuals, families, and the nation.
High Chief Egunjobi called on Nigerians to promote mutual understanding, tolerance, and social harmony, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective effort, shared responsibility, and unrelenting commitment to the common good. According to him, unity remains the cornerstone for building a peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous society.
He also underscored the critical role of young people in nation-building, encouraging them to remain resilient, hopeful, and productive despite prevailing economic and social challenges. The former council chairman further urged leaders at all levels of governance to adopt people-centred policies, stressing that effective leadership must be anchored on service, accountability, and the welfare of the populace.
Speaking on national governance, High Chief Egunjobi called on Nigerians, particularly residents of Lagos State, to continue supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He described the agenda as a strategic framework aimed at economic growth, good governance, and improved living standards for citizens across the country.
Reaffirming his commitment to grassroots development, empowerment, and social cohesion, the Ọtun of Ẹgbaland assured that he would continue to support initiatives that promote peace, progress, and harmonious coexistence within communities.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful, healthy, and prosperous New Year, expressing optimism that with unity, responsible leadership, and collective resolve, the nation is well-positioned for a brighter and more sustainable future.
