Troops of the Joint Task Force in the North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have dealt a significant blow to terrorist logistics networks, intercepting over N37 million in cash suspected to be for financing insurgent activities.
In a statement released on Monday, the operationโs Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, revealed that the feats were achieved during coordinated “logistics strangulation operations” aimed at crippling the supply lines of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements.
In a significant blow to terrorist financing, troops at a Forward Operating Base checkpoint in Chabbal intercepted a suspicious vehicle. A thorough search of the vehicle and its five occupants led to the discovery of approximately Thirty-Seven Million Naira (โฆ37,000,000.00) carefully concealed in bags. Multiple mobile phones, suspected to be used for terrorist coordination, were also recovered.
“The interception represents a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle financial conduits suspected to support terrorist logistics and operational activities within the theatre,” Lt. Col. Uba stated.
In a separate engagement on February 16, 2026, troops from Sector 1, operating alongside local vigilantes, executed a night ambush along a known terrorist crossing route frequently used by ISWAP fighters transiting from the Cameroon axis into Nigeria.
According to the statement, the terrorists ran into “effective enfilade fire” from the concealed troops and were forced to withdraw in disarray. Following the contact, troops recovered a sizable cache of critical logistics supplies intended for terrorist resupply operations.
The Military High Command has commended the “vigilance, utmost professionalism, and resilience” of the troops, whose morale remains high. Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its commitment to “frustrate terrorist ambitions and restore enduring peace and economic stability across the North East region.”
