Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has said that construction work on the 18-story tower the state is putting up in Lagos is on track.
The Governor, who spoke with Government House correspondents upon his arrival at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, upon arriving from a 4-day retreat in Lagos expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on the iconic project.
He described the tower as a strategic investment aimed at boosting the state’s visibility and economic footprint in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub.
Governor Eno explained that the Ibom Tower is designed to serve as a multipurpose facility, providing office spaces, conference centres, and hospitality services to attract both local and international businesses.
According to him, the tower will not only promote the state’s economic diversification efforts but also position Akwa Ibom as a key player in the nation’s evolving economic landscape.
He further disclosed that the project has reached an advanced stage, with structural works nearing completion and finishing works expected to commence soon.
The Governor assured that contractors are working diligently to ensure that the tower meets international standards in both design and functionality, with an emphasis on safety and sustainability.
Describing the tower as a legacy project, Governor Eno said it reflects his administration’s commitment to long-term investments that will yield enduring benefits for the people of Akwa Ibom.
He emphasized that once completed, the Ibom Tower will serve as a hub for trade and investment promotions, hosting major exhibitions, conferences, and business meetings.
The Governor also highlighted that the project has already begun to stimulate economic activity by creating job opportunities for engineers, artisans, and suppliers.
He expressed optimism that the tower would become a landmark attraction in Lagos, showcasing Akwa Ibom’s ambition and capacity for visionary projects beyond its borders.
