A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has called on Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to immediately sack all appointees installed by the former Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ette Ibas.
Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peopleโs Democratic Party (nPDP), made this demand following Governor Fubaraโs return to office on Friday after completing a six-month suspension ordered by President Bola Tinubu.
During the governorโs absence, Ibas oversaw the state and made several appointments. Eze argued that these appointments are illegitimate and should not be recognised. He said, โI expect the Governor to sack all the appointees of the illegal Sole Administrators.โ
The APC chieftain also called for reconciliation within the State Assembly, urging that all members who resigned or worked with Governor Fubara be reabsorbed.
Furthermore, Eze urged President Tinubu to guarantee Fubaraโs security and political stability, warning against any attempts to undermine the governor through impeachment. He added that if such assurances are not provided, Governor Fubara should exercise the full powers of his office as the elected leader.
