Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Thursday forwarded the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) to the State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, affirmed the receipt of the document today at an emergency plenary session.
With the presentation, the house deferred deliberations on the expenditure framework to a later date and adjourned sitting with no fixed date for deliberation.
The submission marks a key engagement between the executive and legislative arms of government, as the Assembly had not convened for regular legislative business in the last four months.
Spear News Nigeria recalls that the House met last in February 2026 when it screened and confirmed commissioner designates submitted by Governor Fubara before adjourning indefinitely.
Ahead of that session, however, lawmakers had sat on January 8, 2026, and subsequently didn’t reconvene on its resumption slated for February 15.
Spear News Nigeria gathered that the submission of the medium-term expenditure framework is a key step in the state’s budget planning process, providing the fiscal projections and policy direction that will guide preparation for future budgets.
