Edo state Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, had said men of the Edo State Security Corp, ESSC will be placed on a monthly salary to boost their morale in combating Security Challenges in the state, while their families will also be placed on Health Insurance.
Governor Okpebholo represented by Secretary to State Government, Musa Ikhilor, during the passing out parade of the second batch of the corp held at the Police Training School Ogida, noted that members of the corp will work with other security agencies to combat crime.
He said the ESSC is different from the disbanded Vigilante under the last administration as the improved training given to the men is considered a significant step in strengthening the state’s internal security.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police CP Monday Agbonika represented by the commandant of the Police Training School, ACP Aghaowa Aigbe said the men have undergone rigorous training in the past two weeks in both character and tactical approach in fighting crime.
With this second batch of five hundred and seven joining the initial first batch of one thousand, four hundred and seventy two, the ESSC now has one thousand, nine hundred and seventy nine men.
