Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has declared a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area with immediate effect.
The drastic measure follows a renewed outbreak of communal violence that erupted on Sunday evening.
The order was announced in a statement on Monday by Hussaini Hammangabdo, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor. According to the directive, all security agencies have been instructed to deploy swiftly to the affected areas to restore peace and maintain order.
“The Adamawa State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area with immediate effect following a renewed communal clash,” the statement reads. “Security agencies have been directed to move into the area and restore peace and order without delay.”
The state government is urging residents of Lamurde to remain calm and to cooperate fully with security operatives as efforts are underway to prevent any further escalation of the crisis.
