Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has greenlit a minor cabinet reshuffle, moving several commissioners across ministries as his administration prepares for what he calls its “final lap.”
The governor’s spokesperson, Humwashi Wonosikou, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday, explaining that the adjustments are meant to bring renewed vigor and fresh perspectives into the government’s closing phase.
Under the new arrangement, Sali Idris moves from the Livestock Ministry to take over Agriculture. In a swap, Prof. David Jatau leaves Agriculture to head the Livestock Ministry, though he will first proceed on sick leave. In his absence, Usman Lamurde—currently Commissioner for Special Duties—will temporarily oversee the Livestock portfolio.
Meanwhile, former Energy Development Commissioner Muhammad Chubado has been reassigned to the Ministry of Health and Human Services.
The reshuffle also follows a resignation. James Iliya stepped down as Information Commissioner to pursue a legislative seat, seeking his party’s ticket for the Demsa constituency in the State House of Assembly. Fintiri has since deployed newly appointed commissioner Leader Leneke to fill the vacancy at the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
The governor said the changes are designed to give cabinet members broader governance experience as the administration enters its remaining stretch.
