Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has vowed to deliver the state to President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Mr Fintiri stated this at the just-concluded APC state congress held in Yola, which produced Hamza Madagali and Mustapha Ribadu as the party’s chairman and secretary, respectively.
The governor and his supporters recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
Mr Fintiri said that, as the leader of the APC in the state, he would ensure that everyone is carried along in the party’s victory at all levels.
“I am formally declaring an onslaught to win because winning is in our DNA,” he said.
He congratulated the new executives and charged them with being fair, just, and accountable.
“I assure you of a tremendous support in the discharge of your responsibilities while admonishing that you be fair, just and accountable to every member of the party.
“Your major job is to grow the party, level the ground for all contestants and win elections for our candidates from the presidency down to the council level,” he said.
In his remarks, the new state chairman of APC, Mr Madagali, who was formerly the chairman of PDP before defecting with Mr Fintiri to the APC, expressed the new executives’ readiness to work towards APC’s victory and to make Adamawa stronger and more united.
He thanked President Tinubu for positively impacting the country and assured him of their support for further development.
Mr Madagali called on all aspirants to conduct their campaign with respect for one another and to remain peaceful.
He assured that under his leadership, there would be no favourite candidate as a level playing field would be provided for all.
Madagali also called for total respect for party leadership at all levels.
