In a brazen and deeply alarming attack, armed bandits have reportedly ambushed multiple vehicles along the Auchi-Owan Road in Edo State, kidnapping a total of 29 passengers on Tuesday.
The incident, which was captured in a distressing video cited online by Spear News and confirmed by local source Afemai Vha Moh, came just hours after several Chinese expertrates were reportedly kidnapped in Okpella and eight security officials killed. The incidents underscore the escalating insecurity plaguing the stateโs highways.
According to eyewitness accounts and preliminary reports, the gunmen targeted a commercial line bus and two Toyota Sienna vehicles during the broad-daylight operation. The assailants, armed and masked, forced the vehicles to a halt before seizing the passengers, whose identities and conditions remain unknown.
The video footage, though not yet independently verified, shows abandoned vehicles and personal belongings scattered across the road.
