The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has urged the people of Benue State to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his efforts to implement the โRenewed Hopeโ reform agenda.
Akume made the appeal on Friday at Wanune, headquarters of Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State, where he officially handed over fully renovated school structures facilitated through the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC). The project included a modern ICT laboratory and classroom blocks at LGEA Primary School, Wannune, his alma mater.
Addressing the community during the ceremony, the SGF described the event as deeply personal and fulfilling.
โToday is a very great day to me, and very fulfilling too, as it sparks off some beautiful and well-cherished memories of my life,โ Akume said. โMy journey to stardom began here many decades ago. The renovation of the entire school structures and a fully equipped ICT Laboratory is part of my little contribution to the growth of my alma mater, and the education of the state generally.โ
While stressing the importance of President Tinubuโs reform agenda, Akume praised the administration for initiating projects he described as โlife-changing,โ noting that the president has โthe drive and capacity to implement them for the betterment of all citizens.โ He listed several federal road projects across the country, including the MakurdiโKatsina Ala Road, BadagryโSokoto Highway, Makurdi, Otukpo Ninth Mile Road, Lagos/Calabar Super Highway, and Enugu/Onitsha Expressway, among others.
The Education Secretary of Tarka Local Government, Mr. Aondoakaa Kwaghbo, who received the school facilities, expressed gratitude to Akume for what he called a โmodest but impactful contributionโ to education in the community. He emphasized that education remains the foundation for meaningful development in every society.
The Executive Secretary of UBEC, Hajiya Aisha Garba, who performed the formal handover, commended the SGF for his thoughtfulness and commitment to education. She also thanked the Wannune community for the warm reception extended to the UBEC delegation.
Other members of the UBEC team present at the ceremony included Engr. Sadiq Saad, Director of Physical Planning; Mr. Ibrahim Gold, Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary; and Mr. Rasaq Juwon Akinyemi, Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical).
