The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the deployment of joint security personnel to communities in Alkaleri Local Government Area following renewed security concerns in parts of the area.
Addressing journalists at the State Police Headquarters on Yandoka Road, Bauchi, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, said the Command has intensified operations in Gwana, Digare and Kafin Duguri communities to curb the activities of criminal elements.
He disclosed that the renewed security measures followed a comprehensive assessment of the situation, prompting collaboration between the Police and other security agencies to restore calm in the affected communities.
According to him, the border communities in Alkaleri LGA have experienced security challenges over time due to infiltration by criminal elements from neighbouring states. He, however, reassured residents that proactive steps are being taken to suppress kidnapping and banditry in the area.
The Command particularly addressed concerns surrounding Mansur town, noting that despite recent incidents in neighbouring Gwana District, the town remains safe and unaffected. Residents who fled their homes were urged to remain calm, as the situation is firmly under control.
SP Habib stated that enhanced security presence and improved operational strategies have been put in place, adding that joint efforts involving the Police, the Military, the DSS, the NSCDC, and other agencies are already producing positive outcomes.
He acknowledged the support of the Bauchi State Government under Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, describing the collaboration as instrumental in stabilising the affected communities.
The Police also emphasised that there will be no safe haven for bandits in the area, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to sustaining the ongoing operations until lasting peace is achieved.
Residents were advised to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious movements or activities, with assurances that informants’ identities would be protected.
The Command further conveyed the message of the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwanu Disu, encouraging residents to go about their lawful activities without fear while taking advantage of the strengthened security measures in place.
The Police assured the public that efforts to maintain peace and security across Alkaleri and other parts of the state will continue unabated.
