A new political force, The Alternative Movement, is set for its official launch on Thursday, presenting itself as a radical departure from Nigeria’s entrenched political elite.
The movement positions itself to challenge faces championing ongoing coalition plans in the country- an alliance of political elites they said are widely accused of entrenching Nigeria’s governance deficits and institutional decay.
Positioned as a broad based ideological platform, the movement promises nothing short of political revolution, advocating for what it terms “a complete re-engineering of Nigeria’s governance architecture.”
Its manifesto calls for paradigm shifts in political philosophy, policy formulation, and institutional restructuring – positioning itself as an umbrella for all reform minded Nigerians across party lines.
Significantly, the movement is led by Otunba Segun Showunmi, a PDP stalwart and former spokesman for Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign.
“The political establishment has mortgaged Nigeria’s future through recycled failures and bankrupt ideologies,” a member of the movement told Spear News in an exclusive chat on Tuesday evening.
“Our movement represents the vanguard of genuine political transformation – not mere power grab but complete system overhaul”, he said.
