Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has issued a strong warning to those who might attempt to undermine the electoral process in 2027, declaring that anyone who tries to rig the election will face the full force of the law.
Obi stated this on Monday while addressing his supporters and the Nigerian public on social media
He emphasised a new resolve to protect the democratic process, insisting that the days of manipulated elections must end. He stressed that the 2027 elections represent a critical juncture for the nation’s future.
“Unlike in the past, in 2027 our votes MUST count, and all those who are there not to count the votes will be counted among those destroying Nigeria,” Obi said.
The former Anambra State governor outlined a key strategy for ensuring the integrity of the election, calling on citizens to take an active role in the process from start to finish. He urged voters to remain vigilant and not to abandon the process after casting their ballots.
“I encourage everyone to remain at the polling units after voting to count and witness the counting and transmission of results,” he stated. “Those who refuse to allow the votes count will be made to count the full weight of the law against rigging.”
Obi made it clear that accountability would be pursued relentlessly. “Let me reiterate: if you do not count our votes, we will count you among those who destroy our democracy, thereby destroying our future, and you must answer to the law.”
