Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has made a strategic move to strengthen the state ministry of information as he sacked the Commissioner of Information Muhammad Bello and replaced him with Ahmed Maiyaki.
Spear News learned that Mr. Bello chose to resign after becoming aware of reports regarding his impending dismissal.
In a statement obtained by this outlet on Tuesday, Ibraheem Musa, the governorโs Chief Press Secretary (CPS), confirmed that Maiyakiโs appointment takes effect immediately.
Before his new role as commissioner, Maiyaki served as the Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC).
Though no specific reason was provided for Belloโs removal, the CPS noted that he was previously the Commissioner for Education before being reassigned to the Ministry of Information.
The CPS also mentioned that the governor thanked Bello for his service and extended best wishes for his future endeavors.
However, according to a resignation letter reviewed by Spear News on Tuesday evening, Bello voluntarily resigned from his position as commissioner and member of the stateโs executive council.
The letter read: โReference to letter number GH/KD/S/171 dated 27th July 2023, appointing me as commissioner and member of the Kaduna state executive council, I wish to notify you of my decision to voluntarily resign with immediate effect”.
โI wish to place on record my profound gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity afforded me to serve in the capacities I did.โ
