President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a direct command to the Nigerian armed forces, ordering them to spare no effort in the mission to eradicate criminal elements from Nigerian society.
The President, in a nationwide address shared on his verified Facebook account and seen by SPEAR NEWS, outlined a firm and uncompromising stance on security, vowing to decisively defeat the terrorism that has challenged the nation for nearly two decades.
The President framed security as an absolute priority, declaring it non-negotiable.
โWe are indeed faced with terrorism – a challenge Nigeria has faced for almost two decades, and we will not back down. We will decisively defeat terrorism and claim victory in this battle. Security is non-negotiable, and we will never compromise on this principle”, President Tinubu stated.
Outlining the operational mandate for the military and security agencies, the Commander-in-Chief was unequivocal in his instructions.
โWe will spare no effort and leave no stone unturned in our mission to eliminate criminals from our society,โ he said, emphasising the totality of the commitment required. He expressed confidence in the eventual outcome, pointing to the courage of the troops and a commitment to the rule of law as the foundational pillars for success. โWith unwavering courage and a steadfast commitment to the rule of law, we will prevail,โ he affirmed.
While projecting confidence, the President also made a strategic appeal to the international community, recognising the importance of allied support in the multifaceted fight. โWe urge our allies to stand firmly with us as we amplify our fight against terrorism,โ he said, signalling a desire for strengthened collaboration.
He provided an assessment of the progress made, adding, โWe have made significant progress in the past two years and we will decisively eliminate this threat.โ Concluding his point on the nationโs security trajectory, he simply yet powerfully stated, โWith courage and the rule of law, we will triumph.โ
A significant portion of the Presidentโs address was dedicated to paying tribute to the men and women on the front lines. He praised the unity and dedication of the armed forces and intelligence community, highlighting their service beyond ethnic and religious lines.
โTo the brave men and women of our armed forces and intelligence community united by purpose, regardless of tribe or religion, who serve fearlessly, fight side-by-side and sometimes pay the ultimate price, we express our deepest gratitude,โ President Tinubu said. He directly linked their personal sacrifice to the nation’s resilience, stating, โYour commitment is our strength in the fight against terror.โ
Beyond the immediate security concerns, the President situated the fight within a broader context of national unity and global positioning. He sought to rally the entire country behind the military effort, describing Nigeria as one indivisible entity. โNigeria is one united family. We rise together, move forward together, and reject despair in favour of determination,โ he said. He assured citizens that the nationโs future was secure, asserting, โOur future is far more robust and stronger than any fears we may have.โ
On the world stage, he pledged that Nigeria would continue to be a reliable and active partner. โWe face challenges head-on and remain steadfast in our commitment to engage partners and champion Nigeriaโs interests on the diplomatic front,โ the President commented.
He described Nigeriaโs approach as being โguided by unwavering calm, clarity, and a strong sense of purpose,โ and promised that the nation would remain โa reliable partner and dependable ally to its friends and a steady voice for stability.โ
Acknowledging the scale of the task ahead, President Tinubu concluded with a promise to build upon existing governmental reforms and to maintain an unwavering personal resolve.
โThe task ahead is immense, yet our resolve is even greater,โ he said. โWe will continue to sustain and build on our reform gains and deliver a prosperous and inclusive Nigeria.โ
