President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will formally flag off his 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna on October 24, 2026, the Director-General of the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has announced.
Yari disclosed this on Friday while addressing State House correspondents in Abuja shortly after a closed-door meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa.
According to the campaign DG, the council’s inaugural meeting will hold on October 14 at the State House Banquet Hall, ahead of the official campaign flag-off in Kaduna ten days later.
He added that after the Kaduna launch, the campaign train will proceed to Port Harcourt and Maiduguri, with a full state-by-state itinerary to be made public after the campaign council is formally inaugurated.
Speaking on the President’s chances, Yari expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure a second term, dismissing the threat posed by opposition candidates, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.
He argued that regional dominance alone cannot deliver the presidency, citing the electoral history of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Look at the late Buhari. He controlled over 70 percent of votes in more than 11 states in the North, but couldn’t win a single state in the South, and he never succeeded,” Yari said.
He insisted that Tinubu has built broad-based support across both the North and the South since assuming office in May 2023.
The announcement comes as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, with the campaign period now formally open.
