A group of supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bauchi State has defected to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), citing Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s performance in infrastructure development and other sectors as the reason for their decision.
The defectors, led by Muntaqa Ahmad Zubairu, chairman of the group, announced their decision during a reception by Governor Mohammed, where they expressed confidence in his leadership and pledged to support his administration’s development agenda.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the APM State Secretary, Alhassan Danlami Bako, said their decision followed an assessment of the governor’s achievements and developmental initiatives across the state.
Bako commended the administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure and promote development, adding that the defectors were prepared to contribute to the progress of Bauchi State through their membership of the APM.
He urged residents and political supporters to embrace continuity in governance, stressing the importance of sustaining development initiatives and completing ongoing projects.
In his response, Governor Mohammed welcomed the new members into the party and thanked them for expressing confidence in his administration.
He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive leadership, sustainable development and policies aimed at improving the welfare of residents across the state.
The governor also urged the defectors to work closely with other party members to advance the objectives of the APM and contribute to the state’s development.
Among those present at the reception was Dr Yakubu Adamu, the APM governorship candidate in Bauchi State, alongside other party leaders.
