A chieftain of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and publisher, Dele Momodu, has launched a fresh attack on former Rivers State Governor and current Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, describing him as an “uncouth and uncultured local champion” with an “irredeemable” soul.
Dele Momodu’s sharp remarks came in response to comments made by Nyesom Wike during a media chat on Thursday.
Wike had dismissed Momodu as a “boy” whose name he could not even recall.
“There is this boy, they say he is a journalist. What’s his name? He is big,” Wike said during the interview.
When a journalist prompted, “Dele Momodu,” the FCT Minister retorted, “Okay, I don’t remember all these names. He was never my friend. He ran for president, but he didn’t get one vote.”
Wike’s remarks appear linked to Momodu’s recent criticism of his political maneuvers. The Ovation International publisher had earlier argued that Wike could not defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) without losing his influence.
In a fiery statement on his social media handle, Momodu posted a pictures of him and Wike, and drew sharp contrasts between individuals who pursue power at all costs and those who accept defeat gracefully.
“On elections, there’s no difference between the man who wasted billions on seeking power and still lost and the one who spent nothing and got nothing. They are both losers,” Momodu declared.
He further lambasted Wike’s character, stating: “The difference here is one is an uncouth and uncultured local champion called ‘money miss road’ while the other is a decorous and refined global citizen surviving on contentment.”
Momodu also hinted at failed attempts to guide Wike, saying: “We thought we could be of help but we failed because some souls are Irredeemable.”
In a veiled jab at Wike’s temperament, Momodu added: “I can confirm that too much alcohol can do two things, dull the memory and get people emaciated…”
Ending with a cautionary note, he stated: “Lesson: NO ONE HAS A MONOPOLY OF MADNESS…
The outburst comes amid ongoing political tensions between Wike and his detractors, further fueling the public feud between the two camps.
