The quiet communities of Ndi Ejezie, Umualoma, and Ndiakuwata were thrown into mourning after suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), launched a deadly attack, killing seven people and leaving several others injured.
The Imo State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye.
According to Okoye, the attack occurred in the early hours of Friday, July 25, 2025, in Ndi-Ejezie, Umualaoma, and Ndiakuwata Uno, located in Arondizuogu, Ideato North Local Government Area.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, condemned the assault as “barbaric, inhumane, and completely unacceptable.”
He assured residents that the police had deployed tactical and intelligence resources to track down the perpetrators and ensure justice is served.
CP Danjuma personally led a tactical team to comb the affected areas, confirming that the situation is now under control. He emphasized that proactive security measures have been implemented to prevent further attacks and restore lasting peace in the region.
Expressing deep sympathy for the victims’ families, the CP prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and a swift recovery for the injured. He urged the bereaved to remain strong and assured them of the police’s commitment to their safety.
