The Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Bauchi, has recorded a total of 216 first-class graduates over three academic sessions, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fatimah Tahir, has announced.
Professor Tahir disclosed this while briefing journalists ahead of the institution’s combined 8th, 9th and 10th convocation ceremonies scheduled to hold between March 27 and 28, 2026, at the university’s main campus in Gadau.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, a total of 11,813 undergraduate students will be awarded degrees during the ceremony.
The figure includes 8,387 male students, representing 71 percent, and 3,426 female students, representing 29 percent of the graduating class.
She further explained that out of the total number of graduates, 216 students (1.83 percent) earned First Class Honours.
Another 3,438 students (29.10 percent) obtained Second Class Honours (Upper Division), while 5,563 students (47.09 percent) graduated with Second Class Honours (Lower Division).
In addition, 2,353 students (19.92 percent) received Third Class Honours, while 243 students (2.06 percent) graduated with Pass degrees.
At the postgraduate level, the university is set to graduate 443 students. This includes 25 doctoral degree holders, 145 academic master’s degree graduates, 241 professional master’s graduates, and 32 recipients of postgraduate diplomas.
Professor Tahir also announced that the convocation lecture will be delivered by Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo. The lecture is titled “Education, Security and Sustainable Development: The Role of Universities in Northern Nigeria.”
She added that the main convocation ceremony, where degrees will be formally conferred on the graduates, will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the university stadium on the main campus.
