Governor Siminalayi Fubara has approved a minor reshuffle within the Rivers State Executive Council.
The key change sees Barrister Christopher Green redeployed as the state’s new Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
Barrister Green previously served as the Commissioner for Sports. In his new role, he will lead the Ministry of Justice, the government’s strategic legal arm responsible for advisory services, criminal prosecutions, and defending state policies.
The announcement was made official in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr. Honour Sirawoo, noting the decision is effective immediately.
For the time being, Barrister Green will also continue to coordinate the activities of the Sports Ministry. This dual-capacity arrangement is intended to ensure continuity in the state’s sports development programs until a substantive commissioner is appointed for that portfolio.
Government sources indicate the reshuffle was approved at the final State Executive Council meeting of 2025. The move is seen as part of Governor Fubara’s effort to strategically align expertise with key governance priorities for effective administration.
