President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has penned a glowing tribute to Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, on the occasion of his 55th birthday, celebrating him as a principled democrat and a model of transformative leadership.
In a statehouse press release issued today, President Tinubu described Governor Sani, whom he fondly called his “younger brother and friend in the struggle,” as a leader whose life “glistens with golden lessons, especially for our younger ones.”
The President traced the Governor’s trajectory from the trenches of pro-democracy activism to the pinnacle of executive responsibility. He highlighted that Governor Sani’s journey to power was “preceded by sacrifice and principle,” recalling his days as a student leader and activist who stood firmly for “justice, freedom, and national unity” during Nigeria’s military era.
“At a time when fear was widespread and silence tempting, he—like a few of us—chose the more challenging path of conviction,” President Tinubu stated, adding that in office, Governor Sani’s history of struggle has “matured into statesmanship,” guiding his conduct with “humility, empathy, and resolve.”
The tribute also spotlighted the Governor’s legislative legacy as a Senator in the 9th National Assembly, particularly his sponsorship of the pivotal Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) 2020. The President noted that the legislation demonstrated foresight and “laid a solid foundation for fintech growth,” calling it a testament to his capacity for enduring reform.
Since assuming office in May 2023, President Tinubu affirmed that Governor Sani has brought a “refreshing tone to governance” in Kaduna State. He credited the Governor’s “deliberate inclusive governance model” for healing deep-seated ethnic and religious divisions, restoring inter-community trust, and fostering a period of “remarkable calm and cohesion.”
Specifically, the President cited the revitalization of Birnin Gwari, an area once ravaged by banditry, where farmers have now returned to their fields and agricultural commerce is booming.
“By engaging traditional rulers, religious leaders and local communities as partners in peace, Governor Sani has deepened safety, security and fostered sustainable development,” the President wrote.
The tribute further commended the administration’s strides in infrastructure, healthcare, industrialisation, and agriculture, noting they reflect an equitable approach to development.
President Tinubu also recognized Governor Sani as a “trusted and reliable ally” of the federal administration, praising his commitment to the ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his active role in advancing the national Renewed Hope Agenda.
Concluding his birthday message, President Tinubu expressed pride in the Governor’s “remarkable trajectory” and joined his family and the people of Kaduna in wishing him “good health, strength, greater accomplishments, and renewed wisdom to continue your selfless service to our country.”
Governor Uba Sani marks his 55th birthday on Tuesday, December 31, 2025.
