A portion of the N10 million ransom paid, the SIM card belonging to a kidnap victim Sunday Ajibola, and the cutlass allegedly used to murder his mother-in-law, Madam Victoria, are now with the police in Edo State.
These items were among several pieces of evidence listed by Prince H.M. Momoh, the Daudu I of Auchi Sacred Kingdom, at a security summit at Auchi, Etsako West local government area of Edo State.
He said eight herdsmen involved have already been apprehended through the combined efforts of vigilantes and the police and handed over to the Police
Addressing the new Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, who is on statewide tour of police formations, Prince Momoh on behalf of the Otaru of Auchi, Alhaji Momoh Ikelebe III, called for justice.
He declared that ,”The victim, Sunday Ajibola, personally identified the suspects, leading to their arrest through the commendable efforts of the Auchi Divisional Police Officer, SP Paul Eshiozebor, and local vigilantes.”
He emphasized that the Otaru-in-Council, residents, and youths of Auchi and the wider Edo North region are closely monitoring the progress of the case and “will not rest until justice is served.”
The suspects, now held at the Edo State Police Headquarters in Benin City, were reportedly tracked down through coordinated intelligence-sharing between local vigilantes and the police.
With the evidence, the Auchi community is intensifying its demand for the swift prosecution of the eight suspected kidnappers linked to the crime.
