The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) said the delay in the conduct of Mathematics and Agricultural Science papers in some examination centres across Nigeria was for a combination of logistical, operational and security-related challenges, including a road crash involving its member of staff.
WAEC disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday and endorsed by the Head of its Public Affairs Department, Mrs Moyosola Adesina, in reaction to concerns over the late beginning of some papers during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The examination body explained that the delay was partly caused by a tragic road crash involving officials assigned to transport sensitive examination materials across states.
