The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially postponed the scheduled State Congresses in Plateau and Cross River States. The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) approved the delay of the exercises, which are intended to elect new State Executive Committees to lead the party in the two states.
The announcement was made in a press statement signed by the Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
Consequently, the congresses, which were originally set to take place on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, will no longer hold as planned. The statement confirmed that “a new date which will be communicated in due course.”
The decision affects a significant step in the party’s internal democratic process within these key states.
The NWC issued a broad appeal to all parties involved to take note of the sudden change in schedule. “The NWC urges all leaders, critical stakeholders, teeming members of the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the media, security agencies and the general public to note the postponement and be guided accordingly,” the statement from Hon. Ologunagba read.
The announcement did not specify the reasons behind the last-minute postponement.
