The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly dismissed allegations of signature forgery leveled by its own National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, stating that he personally signed the official letters concerning the party’s upcoming national convention.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC), addressing the media on Monday in Abuja, countered the claim, insisting that Senator Anyanwu himself signed the correspondence notifying the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Debo Ologunagba, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, who spoke on behalf of the NWC, revealed that the National Secretary signed several key letters just hours before the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on August 25.
The denial comes amid an internal dispute, as the party leadership seeks to quell the controversy and maintain focus on its preparations for the convention.
