Ovie Success Ossai, an aide to the Delta state Governor, Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori. has expressed disappointment over Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, saying the decision could disorganize loyal supporters who invested resources and trust in his political journey.
In a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, sighted by Spear News Nigeria, Ossai argued that political leaders should consider the expectations and sacrifices of grassroots mobilisers, campaign coordinators, and followers who contributed to their rise, insisting that abandoning the contest risks undermining their efforts and aspirations.
Ossai wrote, “Why make a decision that will destroy the destinies of the people who stood by you? If you weren’t ready to defend the people who risked their lives for you, you shouldn’t have started the fight in the first place.
What now happened to people who risked their lives for you?”Spear News Nigeria recalls that Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State withdrew from the APC governorship primary scheduled for Thursday, a move, political pundits say would reshape the party’s internal race.
His withdrawal was contained in a personally signed statement released on Wednesday night, in which he affirmed his exit and vowed support for the eventual party flag bearer.
