Former presidential aide and member of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Okoi Obono-Obla, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as a leader who is genuinely dedicated to helping Nigeria overcome its current challenges.
Obono-Obla said that because of this, the president deserves the public’s full and unwavering support.
He made these remarks on Thursday after being part of a CPC delegation received by the President at the State House on Tuesday. The meeting, which included founding members of the CPC and The Buhari Organisation, led by former Nasarawa State governor, Senator Tanko Al- Makura, saw President Tinubu announce that Nigeria had exceeded its 2025 revenue target in August and declare an end to domestic borrowing.
Obono-Obla praised the President’s personal and leadership qualities, calling him “passionate, sincere, and resolute in his commitment to lifting the country out of its current challenges.”
He further highlighted the President’s intellectual capacity, noting that Tinubu is “sharp witted, articulate, and well informed.”
Based on these attributes, Obono-Obla made a direct appeal to the public, asserting that the President “deserves our unwavering support.”
While not dismissing the role of public scrutiny, the former aide urged that any evaluation of the administration must be measured and purposeful. He concluded that “when offering criticism, it should be fair and constructive—not harsh or insulting.”
The endorsement follows President Tinubu’s promise to work with the CPC bloc and offered ambassadorial slots and other opportunities to participate in his government, ensuring the legacies of former President Muhammadu Buhari are sustained.
The President had told the delegation, “Thank you for your patience until now. But first of all, we must cure the economy and bring hope to the people, which is what we stand for. Thank you for believing in me.”
