The Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA), Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, and four of his children have died in a road accident in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The accident reportedly occurred on Saturday evening along the Duguri road while the family was travelling to their village.
Another son of the deceased was injured in the crash and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, expressed grief over the incident, describing the death of Ladan Duguri and his four children as a monumental loss to the state.
In a condolence statement issued on Sunday, the governor commended the late agency chief for his dedication to public service and his contributions to improving access to healthcare across the state.
According to the governor, Ladan Duguri played a significant role in strengthening the state’s health contributory management system, particularly in efforts to make healthcare services more accessible to vulnerable and less privileged residents.
He also acknowledged the deceased’s contributions to the state’s medical team during pilgrimage exercises in Saudi Arabia, noting that his commitment to the health and welfare of pilgrims was highly valued.
Governor Mohammed described the late Duguri as a close personal friend and classmate, adding that his death was not only a loss to the state but also a painful personal tragedy.
The governor further expressed sympathy over the deaths of the four children, noting that the loss of several members of the same family in one incident made the tragedy particularly devastating.
He acknowledged the profound grief of the bereaved family, saying no words could adequately convey the pain caused by the incident.
