Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has dismissed rumours of his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and reaffirmed his dedication to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
A statement from the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) clarified that two unauthorised claims had circulated—one denying a PDP return and another alleging an ADC leadership offer—but neither originated from Obi or his office.
“The 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party has been a subject of speculation in the political space even as he has remained focused on his mission for the establishment of a new Nigeria of our dreams,” the statement read. It emphasised that Obi “has been unequivocal in his position in the ongoing coalition and didn’t need anyone to put words into his mouth.”
The POMR spokesman, Ibrahim Umar, urged the public to disregard any unofficial statements, stressing that Obi “would not accept anybody attributing a statement to him just to satisfy their devious agenda.”
The media office advised that only communications from Obi’s official channels should be considered genuine.
