Paying tax in Nigeria has never been anyone’s favourite task. Long queues. Confusing forms. Delays that stretch from weeks to months. No one looks forward to it.
But today, the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) says those days are ending.
The agency has launched Rev360, a new tax platform that promises to change how Nigerians file and pay their taxes. The service went live this morning after months of preparation across the country.
What Is Rev360?
Rev360 is an online platform where individuals and businesses can handle their taxes from start to finish. The NRS describes it as the next step in moving from old paper-based methods to a fully digital system.
The old way meant visiting tax offices, filling paper forms, waiting for approvals, and hoping nothing got lost along the way.
The new way is different. Log in. Fill your details. Submit. Pay. Done.
What the NRS Chairman Said
Dr. Zacch Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of the NRS, called the launch a turning point for tax administration in Nigeria.
“Rev360 is more than a platform,” he said. “It reflects our commitment to building a tax system that works seamlessly for every Nigerian.”
He added that the goal is to make tax less of a burden and more of an enabler for national development. In plain language: if paying tax is easy, more people will pay, and the government will have more money to build roads, schools, and hospitals.
Preparing the Ground
Before launching Rev360, the NRS went around the country to prepare taxpayers for the change.
The agency trained staff across all tax offices. It held online meetings and physical sessions in multiple regions. It showed live demonstrations of how the platform works. It also released video guides and a simple user manual.
For those who still have questions, the NRS published a list of frequently asked questions and set up a multi-channel feedback system. Taxpayers can now report issues and get responses quickly.
Who Can Use Rev360 Now?
The platform is launching in phases. For now, Medium and Emerging Taxpayers are the first group to go live. Government agencies and Large Taxpayers will come onboard later in a structured rollout.
This phased approach allows the NRS to fix any early problems before expanding to everyone.
What Rev360 Promises
The NRS says Rev360 will deliver four main improvements:
· Simpler processes – Fewer steps, less paperwork.
· Faster service – No more waiting for weeks.
· More transparency – You can see exactly what is happening with your file.
· Real-time updates – Instant visibility into your tax transactions.
For the average taxpayer, this means less time spent on tax and fewer headaches.
What Has Not Changed
It is important to be clear. Rev360 changes how you pay tax, not whether you pay tax. All existing tax laws still apply. Deadlines remain. Penalties for non-payment still exist.
The only difference is that complying with those laws should now be much easier.
A Word of Caution
No new system launches without problems. The NRS has acknowledged this by putting feedback channels in place. Taxpayers who encounter glitches or confusion are encouraged to report them immediately.
The agency has promised a clear response timeline for all issues raised.
