In a significant political development, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has formally invited Senate President Godswill Akpabio and all her Senate colleagues to commission constituency projects in Kogi State, signalling a potential reconciliation following their highly publicised feud earlier this year.
The invitation, personally signed by the Kogi Central Senator and read aloud during Thursday’s plenary session by Senator Akpabio himself, invites lawmakers to join her in Ihima, Kogi State, on Sunday for project commissioning ceremonies marking her second anniversary in office.
In the letter addressed to her colleagues, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan stated: “In marking my second-year anniversary as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite my Distinguished colleagues to join me for the commissioning of projects in Kogi State.”
The invitation details practical arrangements for the event, noting that “Senators travelling by air could land at the Obajana Airstrip before proceeding to Ihima by road.” The designated meeting point is the Senator’s residence at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene.
Senate President Akpabio, who appeared pleased with the gesture, personally congratulated Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan after reading the letter to the chamber, saying: “Congratulations in advance.”
This public exchange marks the strongest indication yet that the frosty relationship between both politicians has thawed. The feud between them escalated in March 2025 over seat reallocation in the Senate chamber, resulting in Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension for six months by the Senate.
Since returning from suspension on September 24, the Kogi Central Senator has been actively re-engaging with Senate proceedings. Her constructive participation included a notable contribution to the debate on the Criminal Code (Amendment) Bill last week, where she successfully moved an additional prayer for adoption as a resolution.
However, this latest gesture of formally inviting the Senate President and all colleagues to her constituency represents the most concrete step toward mending their political relationship. The commissioning event will showcase Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s constituency projects while demonstrating a return to political normalcy between the previously warring lawmakers.
